Wetherby Racecourse

Wetherby Racecourse has a rich history dating back to the Bronze age, with evidence of horse racing in the area as early as 206 AD. The town became an important staging post for horse racing, with regular meetings starting in the 18th Century. 

The first horse races were held at Linton, now the site of Wetherby Golf Club, and by 1842, regular races began at Linton. The first meeting at the new course on Easter Monday, 1891, was won by Mr Lycett Green’s Riston ridden by Mr. Wilmot Smith.

The course has undergone significant development, including the construction of a railway station in 1924, which facilitated the transportation of racegoers from Leeds. The Millennium Stand, opened in February 2000, is a testament to the course's continued growth and modernization. 

Wetherby Racecourse now hosts both National Hunt and Flat racing, making it a unique and popular destination for horse racing enthusiasts.

4. Damaged or Missing Items

We package our prints and cards with extreme care. However, if your order arrives damaged, please contact us immediately at hello@lovemyvillage.co.uk with photos of the damaged item and packaging.
